Episode 62: Flow - In the zone, things happen quickly—high productivity.

Flow is an integral part of Change Fitness.

Flow: In the zone, things happen quickly, in the groove, absorbed, focused, energised—high productivity. There are no blockages or artificial disturbances.

The opposite of Flow is anxiety, distractions, and lack of focus.

Meditation can help focus the mind and help get into a flow zone.

Getting perspective is part of this. The world is not perfect, and we often worry about things that aren't so important or never happen.

Running and walking are common ways to try and get into a flow zone. Listening to podcasts or things that inspire you can help keep the mind focused. The method for gaining concentration can be very personal.

It is a discipline to learn how to get into a zone.

We live in a noisy world. A lot of information is coming at us from mobile phones, email, social media and business colleagues. Each day we need to carve out some time for focused activity deliberately. Sometimes we can't find the time.

It is not a perfect science.

More practice hones the skill of getting into focus. Clear, realistic goals are required. Start with small goals.

Better communication means more impact on the people being led. Crafting an impactful message requires a lot of focus and work.

Flow looks natural but requires discipline to master.

Learning is key to leadership, Change and Growth. It is crucial to do it yourself before imparting the ability to team members.

Start with small activities and allow members to succeed before ramping up the complexity.

Flow is the antithesis of a chaotic day. It is a journey, and nobody does it perfectly.

Flow is a form of knowledge, skills, and a way of working. It is better to b able to do it than not have the skills.

The physical work environment also plays a role in the ability to have a work habitat conducive to flow.
