Danny Sgo - "Choose the key points and values to you and trying to get the best outcome".

Episode 1: Danny Sgro

Danny is a youth worker, adventurer, educator, traveller and has a strong social conscience.

His particular interest is in relationship pedagogy which he uses to help young people prepare for the future.

Danny thinks it is essential to commit to lifelong learning, education and making a difference in society.  Always have a plan on where your learning program is heading.  Be mindful and intentional in your study.  It can result in compromise and not always directly related to salary level and status.

From a career development perspective, he believes that it is now customary for young people to change jobs quite often to receive a wide range of experience.  However, once they reach their mid-30s, it is time to consolidate and show some tenacity and commitment to a business or employer.  If you keep bouncing around trust around reliability starts to decrease.

As a leader, Danny considers that the role has changed so that the leader now has to be prepared to get more involved in the function, to get their hands dirty.  The role has been turned upside down and made more democratic.

"Nobody will get a gold watch at the end of their career anymore." People do not give their lives to an organisation, but they make the best contribution they can while they are in a role.

For the future, Danny thinks "fulfilment" is essential.  Choose the key points and values essential to you and try to get the best outcome you can.  It is a personal thing.  Everyone has different motivators.
