Prudence Jacobson - "The new work environment demands authentic behaviour and trust."

Pru Jacobson is an ex-sales professional and ex-lawyer.   She transitioned into strategic roles and then into the procurement and supply chain space.  She is at IBM now but has had procurement and executive roles worked previously at Unisys, ANZ, Qantas and Westpac.

Her passion areas and interests are in human lead technologies, sustainability and the circular economy and the future of work.  She has embraced her inner altruistic self, which finds her happiest when helping others (individuals and organisations) to succeed.

Pru has lost her fear of what people think of her, and this makes her more successful.  She loves staying connected to the child way of thinking and creating.

Pru loves helping others be successful because she finds herself at odds with the traditional hierarchy model.

The new work environment demands authentic behaviour and trust.

The inquisitive child-like piece is critical in the world of innovation and the ability to embrace change.

Pru is a huge advocate of technology.  People need to embrace technology and not be afraid of the changes technology brings to the workplace.

COVID and the renewed focus on the sustainability piece are driving a lot of technological change.

Some leaders can embrace the change within all business areas in global companies, and others are resistant to change.

For leadership, 80% is about the people.  How best to support them and help them succeed.

Skill sets for talent are available now that was inaccessible before the pandemic.

Global companies are familiar with a matrix operation and an international and remote workforce.

For young graduates, Pru advises them to be brave, confident and trust their intuition.  Don’t let your ego or someone else's influence get in the way.  Make difficult decisions.  Always make decisions that align with your values and who you are.
